For ages, women all over the world are longing for smooth, unblemished skin with no hair at all. In the recent years, technology has proved it to be possible. But when it comes to hair removal, the word “permanent” appears to be false, since in this case “permanent” does not mean forever!
Most of the time what permanent hair removal systems give is hair reduction and not complete removal. Most hair removal systems destroy the hair follicles ability to grow hair again.
For people who want to remove their hair permanently, the market offers a number of methods which are not 100%. Some of the alternatives are listed below.
Electrolysis- Electrolysis has been proved to be clinically safe and effective. In this method a hair-like metal probe is inserted into a hair follicle and an electric current is sent to it through the probe. In this way it causes damage to the areas that produce hair. The only difficulty in this method is that it is painful, dull and costly.
Laser Hair Removal - Laser hair removal is a method in which light is delivered at a particular wavelength from a hand piece into the skin. It aims at the pigment in the hair and causes damage to the hair follicle while sparing the surrounding tissue. This method is considered safe if it is correctly performed. The re-growth of hair is mostly lighter in color or better in texture. But, this method is costly, painful and needs eye protection.
Flash Lamps- In this method filtered light is delivered from a hand piece into the skin and causes damage to a hair follicle. It has been pretty successful, but it was found to be ineffective on un pigmented hair, and on red and blonde hair.
Improper treatment of hair removal can cause burns, skin discoloration, which can last several months or result in patch grid-like re-growth. There are many more methods for hair removal like electric tweezers, photo epilators, and trans cutaneous hair removal methods. With the help of these methods you can acquire that smooth silky feeling for a short duration.
