Sugaring is a very old method of hair-removal. It is gaining popularity because the effects of sugaring are similar to waxing.

The sugaring paste is warmed and then spread finely to the skin in the direction of the hair growth. Reusable cotton strips are then pressed firmly onto the paste and then removed which pulls the hair leaving the skin smooth.

Sugaring can be done on the eyebrows, upper lip, underarms, legs, arms and stomach. But for men sugaring cannot be done on the beard due to a different hair root system.

Usually the effects of sugaring hair removal lasts for 4 to 6 weeks depending on the level of hair growth. Frequent sugaring treatments weaken the hair so it becomes easier over time.

A slight sting similar to ripping a sticky tape from the skin is experienced after sugaring. The skin may be red for a while after it but this usually disappears within 24 hours.

Sugaring is a safe process as all the ingredients are natural. Sugaring even has healing properties. Paste mixtures which are purchased contain ingredients such as citric acid and gum Arabic. The citric acid is an astringent which tightens the skin making hair removal easier and the gum Arabic gives a proper consistency to the paste making it easier to remove.
