IPL treatment is also considered effective for removing hair from the body. Before each session system settings are computer customized depending on factors like the color of the skin, the texture and the area to be treated.
Professionals begin with trimming the hair over the area that is to be treated and then spot tests are conducted on the skin to check for any skin sensitivity or response to different device settings.
A gel similar to the gel applied to during an ultrasound is applied over the area to be treated. This gives a cooling effect to the area to be treated and then a ray of light is focused on the area which is meant to undergo such hair removal treatment. Patients are provided with eyewear to protect them against bright light.
The device is moved over the treatment area and a light based energy is released through controlled flashes or pulses to treat the area. This heat actually deactivates or kills the hair follicles thereby hindering further growth.
Effective results can be observed when much of the hair is wiped off alongwith the gel after the treatment is complete. Professionals claim that the additional hair which may have remained after the treatment falls off in the coming week or two.
