Electric Tweezers

Electric tweezers often promoted as permanent hair removal tools but there is no clinical data about this fact. In this type of hair removal procedure an electric current is passed to a hair through an electrified tweezer to damage the root of the hair.

Advantages of Electric Tweezers

• Some find hair removal through electric tweezers is less painful and side effects are less in compare to ordinary tweezing.
• It is a safe procedure and does not cause pain and side effects, if performed correctly.
• Best for treating individual hairs

Disadvantages of Electric Tweezers

• They don’t have any clinical proof of achieving permanent hair removal. The results last for 3 to 8 weeks.
• No clinical proof that electricity travels through a hair and causes permanent damage to the root.
• Some find it very painful
• The procedure may damage your skin, if done very often.
• It is up to 100 times slower than ordinary tweezing

Since 1976 FDA has cleared 25 brands of electric tweezers but there is no clinical data showing its permanence, no side effects, painless and more effective than electrolysis.

“FDA acknowledges that there is no statistically significant scientific data available at this time to support promotional claims of permanent or long-term removal of hair through use of the device,” reported FDA in 1998.
