Taking oral medications (prescription pills) for hair growth reduction is a new additional method of hair removal. They stop hair cell production.
Some oral medications help reducing hair growth but they can also cause serious side effects. So it’s important to discuss clearly with your doctor about their usage directions, precautions to be taken while taking them, side effects and their appropriateness for your skin and hair type before using these pills.
Never take any type oral medications on your own for hair growth reduction. They should be prescribed by a professional doctor after the essential check ups. So think twice before popping a pill.
Here are two common drugs that help reduce hair growth and the side effects associated with them.
Spironolactone
This drug is also known as aldactone. It is suggested to drink a lot of water while taking it. If you are pregnant or have a family history of breast cancer, do avoid it.
Flutamide
It can show side effects such as fatigue, jaundice, vomiting and nausea. If these side effects occur, it is important that you immediately contact your doctor.
Finasteride, Ketoconazole, Cyproterone Acetate, and Gonadotrophin are other common drugs used for hair removal.
