Laser hair removal is a safe technique of removing which works by focusing a laser beam at the base of a hair follicle and halting its growth. It can be used on any part of the body on account of it safety.
Laser emits out an energy that reaches the base of hair follicle using melanin as a conductor thereby, destroying the follicle. Since it uses melanin as a conductor, it is not effective for blonde, white or grey hair.
Suntan, waxing and bleaching are to be avoided2-3 weeks prior to the procedure. Hair should be shaved off or removed using a depilatory cream the night before or the morning of the treatment.
Sunlight should be avoided for a few days after the procedure. Hydrocortisone cream or aloe vera gel should be applied if there is any redness. A follow-up is advised.
A series of about 5 treatments reduces the hair permanently by 70-90%. It causes less damage of skin rendering it soft and smooth with lesser discoloration and scarring.
