Hair on the neck can be very embarrassing for men and to remove the extra hair the most preferred and common practice is shaving. But, some look for a permanent solution to this problem and opt for methods like laser and electrolysis. A neatly trimmed hair line on the neck any day looks better than the growth of random and excess hair. It not only gives a well groomed look but also prevents any bacterial or fungal growth on the skin. It is also easier to maintain cleanliness around this area after removing the unwanted hair. Electrolysis and laser are the two permanent methods that are regularly preferred by many men and women who want to clear the hair forever and not go for short term results. These two methods are expensive and take a lot of time than any of the temporary hair removing methods. Let us learn in brief how these methods work. Permanent Removal of Hair from the Neck Laser and electrolysis mode of hair removal does not give instant results but continues over a period of time and eventually reduces and completely inhibits any further hair growth. Patience, budget, and regular check up with the expert are recommended.

Laser for Permanently Remove Hair on the Neck

Laser therapy uses light rays of various wavelengths to reduce the hair growth. Using the different pulse, wavelength, and energy the light beams destroy the melanin cells and reduce the hair growth. The pulse rate, wavelength, and intensity of the rays depend on various factors like melanin content, skin structure, sensitivity, etc.

For different skin types different wavelengths and intensities are used. These rays are aimed at destroying the melanocytes – the cells that give color to the hair and also reduce the hair growth.

It works best for people with light skin color and dark hair. It may not be as effective for people with darker skin tone, because it targets the pigmentation, it can lead to embarrassing white patches.

The heat generated through the passing of light rays damages the pigmenting cells and slows down the growing of hairs and after many sessions it stops the growth completely.

Laser as a hair removing option may not give same result in each individual and the results differ from one person to another.

It is not a painful process but some mild stinging feeling is experienced and in some cases it might result in some redness and rashes which can be dealt with easily.

Laser therapy for hair removal takes many sessions. Depending upon the part of the body, a break of 3 to 8 weeks is generally suggested so that the hair cycle is completed and it becomes easier to target the hair.

Electrolysis Treatment for Hair on Neck

Electrolysis therapy uses very low voltage of electric current to destroy the roots of the hair and a needle to pull out each single strand of hair. The needle acts as an electrode and also helps to pluck out the hair. It is the only permanent solution of hair removal that has an approval of the FDA and is highly recommended by many.

Electrolysis works well for all skin and hair types and color. This method does not aim at discoloring the pigment cells but rather targets the roots of the hair.

The electricity is passed through the skin pores using the needle and damages the sacs from which the hair strands originate.

Though the results may not vary much from person to person and the results are generally satisfying. It is a very painful procedure and in case of sensitive skin it can result in severe rashes or redness. Medical drugs are prescribed to deal with any side effects and one should always contact the expert in case of any uncomfortable feeling.

This is a very time consuming process and needs long breaks of many weeks between each session. These breaks are essential in order to allow the immature hair to grow fully and only then can they be plucked out and their roots be destroyed.

It is a very expensive mode of treatment but less when compared to laser treatment, and takes more sessions of therapy in comparison to laser.

After these brief points about the two recognized and well accepted permanent solutions of neck hair removal it is totally an individual’s call to choose any method that he or she finds more suitable. Which ever procedure you choose, do remember to get it done by a professional who has a good record. Also, discuss all the factors to be considered like your skin sensitivity, structure, hair thickness, color, etc and of course money.

Depilatory creams contain chemicals like calcium and sodium thioglycolate which dissolve the keratin present in the hair. Depilatory creams are an easy way to remove hair from areas where it is tough to use a razor or other hair removal methods. They are easy and quick to use. Depilatory cream is an effective but temporary hair removing method. It melts the hair just below the skin’s surface and gives a smooth and hairless result.Let us learn more about patch test, how to use depilatory cream and its pros and cons.

What Are Depilatory Creams? How Do They Work?

Depilatory creams are one of the temporary hair removing methods which dissolve the hair from the surface of the skin and give a hairless touch. The results last for 3-4 days depending upon the natural growth rate of the hair.

Depilatory lotions, gels, creams and sprays are chemical products that destroy and melt the proteins of the hair called keratin. Protein is the building block of hair and the strong bonds of keratin are reacted and destroyed by the chemicals present in the cream.

What Is Patch Test And How To Do IT?

Using any cream, lotion or gel directly on the skin without patch test is never advised. It is always better to do a small patch test first. Patch test would determine if your skin is sensitive to the particular cream. If you are sensitive to it, you can prevent allergic reaction. If no side effects are experienced then the cream can be used.

It is suggested to do the patch test behind the knee part as that area is hidden and in case of negative skin reaction it can be easily covered. Follow the tips for the test.

Wash the back part of the knee with a gel or soap to prevent reaction between sweat, dirt and the cream.

Using a cotton towel dry the part and then apply a small layer of the cream.

Wait for the time period mentioned on the box.

During this time look for any negative feeling on the skin like burning sensation, itching, irritation, redness etc.

Do not overstep the recommended time limit. It could result in some allergic reaction.

Wipe the cream with a moist cotton cloth to get hairless and smooth skin.

Tips for Using Depilatory Creams

Always read the directions carefully before using depilatory creams.

Avoid using it near sensitive areas like eyes and genitals etc.

Take shower or wash the part to open the skin pores and pat dry it.

Very carefully follow all the directions as per the instructions and using the provided spatula, apply the cream.

Wipe the cream and remove the hair using a wet cloth.

Take bath or wash the part to open the hair sacs and pat dry it.

Very carefully follow all the directions as per the instructions and using the provided spatula, apply the cream.

Do not keep the cream for long on the skin and follow the recommended time strictly.

Wipe the cream using a wet cloth to remove the hair.

What Are The Advantages of Depilatory Cream?

Easy to apply, these creams, lotions, gels, and sprays remove the hair instantly.

The method is painless and effective.

Economical and easily available, these creams can fit anybody’s budget.

Easy to use on areas like underarms.

Results last longer when compared to the results of shaving.

These creams are easy to use.

The method does not have a long process to follow.

After every use the hair becomes thinner.

The results are fast, and do not consume much time.

What Are The Disadvantages of Depilatory Cream?

It can be messy to use.

These creams should not be applied on broken or damaged skin to remove the undesired hair.

Depilatory creams should not be used on a daily basis.

People with sensitive skin are strongly advised against using these creams.

They should never be used on skin with cuts, scratches, scrapes, abrasions, and burns.

Regular use may harm the skin, darken, tan and even burn it.

They can be very smelly due to the chemicals present in them.

Works best in removing finer hair. It is not very effective on coarser hair.

The creams are chemical based products and have a high risk of developing rashes, redness, allergy and skin burn when compared to other processes.

These creams have bad smell because of the chemicals.

It is strongly advised against to using the cream near eyes, genitals etc.

Using depilatory creams for hair removal depends on factors like preference, convenience etc. Most of the depilatory creams do not cause any side-effects but people with sensitive skin must avoid using it, as it may trigger an allergic reaction. Once in a while, these creams can be used but is not suggested for daily use. It is completely a personal choice whether to use this method or not, but the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

What is Hirsutism?

Hormones are chemical substances which start and carry out different chemical reactions in our body.

One such hormone called androgens is present mostly in men. This hormone should be present in very little amount in a female’s body.

When the presence of this hormone exceeds the normal level in a female’s body, Hirsutism is caused.

Another reason is over sensitivity of the roots of hair (called follicles) to this hormone.

Obese women are found to be at higher risks of getting this problem.

It is because obese women have increased levels of another hormone called insulin in their body.

Research has found that Insulin and risk of this problem are directly related.

So, if you are also one among those suffering from Hirsutism, then here are the techniques for losing that unwanted hair. Now that you know what is Hirsutism?, I hope that you would follow the above techniques for a soft skin.

Once you have permanently removed the hair, then you don’t have to shave for the rest of your life which saves a lot of time. Your clean body also looks fabulous. There are many hair removal methods available now-a-days. But most of them give short term results and only few of them give permanent results. Now we have to find which is the best method for permanent hair removal for men.

There are two effective methods available for removing hair permanently : Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis. These two methods will help you in removing the unwanted hair permanently.

1) Male Laser Hair Removal :

This method is the most effective way for permanently removing the unwanted hair. It is easy and painless. It acts on the hair cells, so that they don’t grow again. You get a shiny, smooth and clean skin which looks amazing. Millions of people around the globe have used this powerful method for removing the hair permanently.

One important factor in choosing a particular hair removal technique is the colour of the hair. There are very few hair removal techniques which are applicable on all types of hair. Microwave radiation is a form of energy which can be used to remove all types of hair. This article tries to gain further insight on this topic.

How Microwave Radiation Remove Hair?

It is a type of energy wave. It is also used in microwave ovens to heat and cook food items. However, this energy wave is not absorbed by all substances. Our hair contains fat and water irrespective of its type. When this energy wave falls on hair, it is absorbed by the hair’s fat and water molecules. After absorption, these molecules start vibrating to produce heat. This heat destroys the root of hair called follicle. The blood provides all the nutrients to root. They get get absorbed by it. In this way, hair gets all its nourishment through follicles. The heat stops blood supply to the root making the hair dull and weak. In this way, this energy wave can remove hair. In 1999, FDA cleared the usage of all hair removal devices using microwave. But this technique cannot be used to remove hair on the face.

Demerits of Microwave Radiation Hair Removal Technique:

This technique is not as effective as laser hair removal technique.

When this energy wave is used, it influences the skin surrounding the hair too.

When this technique is used to remove hair on face, it can cause damage to the eyes.

Information on the safety measures to be followed while using this technique is not available yet.

The market is flooded with many hair removing creams but not all of them are approved or are prescribed by qualified doctors. Vaniqa hair removing cream is the only cream prescribed by dermatologists and is FDA approved. It has been clinically tested and the results were satisfactory. This cream not only removes the hair but also reduces the growth of hair over a period of time. Let us learn more about it.

Vaniqa Hair Cream:

Vaniqa is a cream that aims at removing and eventually reducing the re-growth of facial hair. This is the only product with regards to hair removal that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and is prescribed by dermatologists.

Unlike depilatory creams which soften, break, and melt hair for temporary removal, vaniqa targets the re-growth of hair on face. The results are usually evident after 4 to 8 weeks. It is recommended to be used twice a day for better results.

How Does It Work?

Vaniqa has certain active ingredients that block the enzymes found in the hair follicle which are essential for the hair growth. It blocks the enzymes at the growing phase itself and thus prevents the re-growth of hair.

How To Use It?

Like any other normal cream or lotion this product should be used.

Wash, cleanse the face and pat dry it.

Apply a thin layer of the cream.

Gently rub it on the skin. It should be absorbed by the skin.

Only after applying this cream should you use moisturizers, sunscreens, and other lotions.

Do not wash the face but allow the cream to act for the next 4 hours.

After the time period wash the face.

Repeat the process in the evening too and rinse before sleeping.

Maintain at least 8 hours of gap between two applications of this product.

Side Effects:

The following are some of the adverse results of using this cream. These side effects have not been witnessed in all the cases but were evident in few women with sensitivity to the cream.

Irritation of skin

Redness

Itching feeling

Burning sensation

Stinging feeling

Acne

Rashes

Mild allergies etc

Advantages:

The benefits of vaniqa are:

It is easy to use

It is not messy

It does not involve frequent visits to the parlor

It removes the hair and eventually inhibits the hair growth

These are some of the benefits, disadvantages, and the use of vaniqa hair removing cream. Always do the patch test before using any cream to look out for any side effects. This cream is available only on presenting a doctor’s prescription unlike other depilatory creams. Consult the doctor if you experience any of the above mentioned side effects.

My friend Andy is always concerned about the hair on his body and keeps looking for new options to get rid of them. He recently bought a new depilatory lotion and is very happy with the results. But, the same product did not suit our other friend’s sensitive skin. He is visiting a physician for the skin burn treatment. Yes! It is quite normal that a same product can do wonders for one and can spell disaster for another person. Let us learn more about what depilatory lotion is?

What Is Hair Removing Cream?

Hair removing creams, gels, sprays, powder, and lotions are cosmetic products laden with chemical substances that are used to remove the hair from the surface of the skin. Different compositions are available for different body parts and one should not use the product meant for legs and arms on face or other areas.

How Does It Work?

Hair is made up of protein building blocks called keratin. Keratin is composed of disulphide bonds. These disulphide bonds are weakened and damaged by the heavy presence of alkaline compounds like calcium thioglycolate and sodium thioglycolate. The negative reaction between these compounds and the protein blocks weaken the hair which can be removed by a simple wash or wiped with a wet cloth.

Patch Test:

The basic approach one must take whenever he or she is using any new product on the skin is to do a patch test. A patch test would decide if the cream or lotion is useful or harmful for the skin. It is strongly recommended that one must wait for at least 24 hours after doing the patch test to look for any adverse signs. Wash the area that you want to remove hair from and dry it. Apply a thick layer of lotion on the hair and wait for the mentioned time on the box. Do not cover the whole area, but use it only on a small spot. If you experience any irritation, itching, swelling, redness, burning sensation etc, immediately wash the part, remove the cream, and apply ice cubes. The lotion does not suit your skin composition. If you do not experience any negative reaction then wipe the cream with a wet cloth to remove the hair. Wait for 24 hours to see if any reaction develops. If not then go ahead and use it. If you are unsure of doing a patch test on the desired area, then try it at the back of the knee. It is a hidden part and in case of adverse reaction it cannot be seen and would not embarrass you.

How To Use It?

Follow these simple steps to use a depilatory cream and avoid unnecessary reactions.

Always wash the part that you want to remove hair from. Any dirt, sweat, or other cream might react and trouble the skin.

Dry the part and apply a thick layer of the lotion using a wooden or plastic spatula, or fingers. Do not rub it in the skin.

Wait for the cream to react and destroy the hair. Do not exceed the time limit mentioned on the box. The alkaline ingredients will start reacting with the skin, which is also rich in proteins, and might irritate the skin.

Using a wet wipe remove the hair gently. Do not scrape or scrub it.

Rinse the cream and wash the part. Pat dry and leave it. Do not use any other moisturizer or other cream or cologne for the next 24 hours.

Important Tips:

The following tips should be paid attention to when using depilatory products.

Do not use the product on broken or burned, or scraped, or cut skin.

Do not exceed the time limit mentioned on the instructions box.

These products are smelly but do not use any other fragrance on it.

It is a temporary method and the results will not last more than 2 to 5 days.

The chemicals could result in blackening of the skin.

It is easy to use and does not result in ingrown hair etc.

Men can use depilatory lotion to remove hair on back, chest, stomach, arms, legs, and underarms. It is usually suggested not to use these products on genitals and near eyes. Keeping in focus the above mentioned pros and cons one should use them carefully and avoid using too frequently.

It was a very funny situation when I and my friend were looking for products that were completely opposite in nature! I was looking for a product that would increase my hair growth while my friend was looking for a hair shaving gel. He is a very hairy man and in college we would call him a bear. Ever since, he is very particular about removing hair from his body. In fact, he gave a few tips on shaving and I was completely surprised.

Useful Hair Shaving Tips:

We may indulge in many short term hair removing options but shaving remains the unbeaten option. It is easy, fast, takes less time, and does not involve too much of preparation. But, the hair grows back fast and ingrown hairs are the major problems associated with it. Follow the basic rules of shaving to avoid these problems.

Never shave dry hair, it increases the ingrown hair problem and is more at risk of scarring and cutting the skin.

Moisten the body hair by rinsing it with water for at least a few minutes. This softens the hair and aids in easy removal.

To soften the hair further, use a good shaving gel. Avoid soap altogether. Shaving gel helps to remove the hair without any fuss and it also prevents the hair from getting stuck in the razor.

Always use a good blade and do not try to use an old and worn out razor. The chances of cutting the skin, contracting an infection, and ingrown hair are more.

If pressure is needed to remove hair then the blade has worn out. New or fine working blade removes the hair fast and without pressure.

Dip the razor in between strokes to clear the stuck hair.

Always remove the hair first in the direction of its natural growth and for close shave gently run the razor against the growth.

Avoid shaving any part repeatedly. You can injure the part and irritate the skin.

Once the shaving part is done, wash the area with cold or lukewarm water.

Gently pat dry it and do not scrub. Scrubbing irritates the shaved skin.

If any irritation or itching was experienced during the process apply ice cubes. This will soothe the skin.

Apply vitamin E oil, or vitamin E based lotion, or aloe vera gel, or any other non-alcohol moisturizer.

These tips on hair shaving should be followed each time you use a razor to remove unwanted hair on the body. With a little bit of patience and preparation you can prevent the problem of ingrown hair and also avoid the stubble by a day or two.

We all think of having a smooth skin texture, no wrinkles, no hair on face, but lustrous long curls on head and to get this [...]

We all think of having a smooth skin texture, no wrinkles, no hair on face, but lustrous long curls on head and to get this most of us try out different methods. Some of the options available are permanent while others are temporary. Hair removal epilator is one of the many temporary methods that results in a smooth and hairless skin. Sugaring is mostly popular in the Middle Eastern countries but is fast gaining popularity, waxing, shaving; threading and other methods are used to get rid of the hair on body and face. Let us learn more about hair removal epilator.

What Is It?

An epilator is a small machine, a device that is run on power or on battery that works on the principles of various temporary hair removing methods like tweezing, sugaring, and waxing. This device has coil springs, or rotating discs, or tiny pluckers or tweezers that trap the hair tightly and pull them out. Different models of epilators are available to choose from, with different designs, speed, motor capacity, and machine with discs, springs, or tweezers. These can be used on almost all the parts of the body excluding some delicate sections.

How To Use An Epilator?

Whenever we use any method to remove hair from any part of the body, we should wash that area. This softens the hair and also loosen ups the skin. This in turn aids in easy removal of the hair and causes much less pain. It would be very painful to pluck out hair from the body if the skin is cold, and the hair un-warm.

Wash the part of the skin which you want to make hair free, or take a shower for at least a couple of minutes. This opens up the pores and the skin is relaxed.

Dry the skin using a cotton cloth.

Take the epilator and start the battery or plug it to power.

Place it on the skin and slowly move it on the skin in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

The device would grasp as many hairs as possible and pull them out.

This would cause much pain hence it is advised to press your palm immediately after the use to subside the pain.

Also, use some cold water or ice cubes and moisturizer to soothe the irritation and the red bumps.

Benefits:

A few of the advantages of using this device are as follows.

The main benefit of this device is that it is not messy. Many other temporary options involve lengthy procedure and sticky application or creams or wax.

The results last longer than most of the other methods used like shaving, threading, plucking etc. Usually the hair grows back between 15 to 30 days depending upon individual hair growth rate.

With each use the hair will become weak and also the growth rate slows down. Less hair growth is observed.

The use of this applicator is not just limited to small area, but can also be used on large body parts like back hair, chest hair, legs etc.

This device has to be bought only once and when compared to permanent hair removing choices, this is very cost effective.

It is easy to operate and frequent visits to parlors are reduced drastically.

The Downside Of An Epilator:

The below mentioned disadvantages should be learnt about before investing in this applicator.

The pain involved in uprooting the hair using this applicator is similar to or more than waxing.

It does result in red bumps, irritation of skin, and ingrown hair problem.

It is an expensive investment when compared to many other methods.

It does not exfoliate the skin like waxing does.

It is not a permanent solution.

The blades, coils, discs, or tweezers need to be changed from time to time. This is not cost effective for many.

It is not recommended to remove hair from certain delicate areas using this device.

Hair removal epilator has its own pros and cons and one should weigh them both before buying one. And, he or she should be very sure to use it often or else it would be a total waste of money.

Not every body can afford expensive methods to have a hairless and smooth skin. And, for these people other less expensive and very cost effective methods are available. Face Epilator is one of the such option that is temporary but not very expensive as the permanent methods are. Based on the working model of waxing, sugaring, tweezing, and threading, these electrical devices are designed. The rotating discs, or multiple tweezers, and the other models are electrically powered to hold many hair at once and pull them from the root.

Face Epilator:

Many women do not like to have any facial hair and they try out many different options of hair removal to have that perfect, flawless skin look. This device is preferred by both men and women who do not like to have hair on face and those who do not have enough time to visit the parlor frequently to get the desired look. Epilator is a device or a machine that is run on electric power, or rechargeable batteries. It has many models and can be chosen from depending upon the requirement. This machine’s main function is to grasp and pull out as many hair as possible in a go. It does not involve any messy procedures or tiresome plucking of each hair strand.

How To Use It?

Before using any device, cream, light, laser, wax, or thread, it is always recommended to wash and clean the skin. This will prevent any reaction between the dirt or pollution on the face and the method of hair removal. After drying the skin follow these steps.

Plug the machine and place it on the skin. Or start the battery and use the device.

Move the machine slowly on the skin to allow the blades, or tweezers, or discs of the epilator to trap the hair strands and pull them out.

It is better if you move the machine against the hair growth.

Once it is done, wash the face with cold water or use ice cubes to soothe the irritated skin.

Finally, use any natural or suitable moisturizer.

Benefits Of The Epilator:

All the methods of hair removing have certain advantages, this device too has some.

This is an easy method to remove hair without any lengthy and messy procedures like in waxing and sugaring.

It is not strenuous and tiresome like in tweezing where each hair strand is pulled out from the follicle.

It does not remove the hair only from the skin surface like in shaving and threading, but uproots them from the follicle.

The results last longer than most of the temporary ways to get rid of hair.

It is fast and can be used on small and large body parts like face, legs, chest, stomach, or back.

Over a period of time, this process makes the hair weak and also reduces the hair growth.

Disadvantages:

The negatives of using epilator are as follows.

Because it plucks out hair, it is a very painful way.

In sensitive skin types it can result in irritation, itching, red bumps, and ingrown hair problem.

It is recommended to change the blade or tweezers of the device every few months which means it may not be financially viable for many. Also, the device is not very cost effective and may not fit many people’s budget.

Unlike waxing, epilators do not exfoliate the dead cells. The shine and the smoothness of the skin is different.

It should not be used on certain delicate parts of the body.

Like in waxing or sugaring, epilator cannot be used on short hair. The hair needs to be grown by at least a quarter of an inch. Meanwhile, you should avoid using any other mode to remove hair and tolerate the hair growth.

Face epilator can be used by both the genders. It is totally a person’s choice to buy this device or not. With the advantages and disadvantages clearly spelt, one should be prepared to use it after buying. It would be a complete loss of money if you just try it once and then leave it.
