No doubt, Laser Hair Removal is an advanced and new hair removal technology, which transcends the older, painful hair removal treatments with long lasting results.
In regards to the possible laser hair removal risks, there are few, but these still must be considered as critical to learn and understand about.
However, if you plan to have laser hair removal done, you should still know what the risks involved with this procedure.
Risks Involved with Laser Hair Removal:
- The laser hair removal risks may include things like burning of the skin or a discoloring on darker skin due to the use of the laser. This is more likely happens, if the doctor is not well qualified or experienced enough. So make sure whether the doctor is extremely qualified or not.
- In some cases darkening of the skin (hyper pigmentation) occurs. This is usually a temporary condition, but in rare instances, is long lasting.
- You will likely to notice some redness and swelling on the skin for a relative time after the treatment. But, for this no medications or bandages are essential.
- In some cases blistering and scarring occurs, though this is very rare. In some cases stinging may occur for the first couple of days.
- In some cases a slight crusting of the skin may occur. If this crusting occurs in your case, you should make sure to keep the whole area moist, for example with Vaseline, which is the most recommended option for this.
Care to be taken after the Treatment:
You should remember certain things after the treatment, in order to reduce and avoid the possible side effects as much as possible, and this includes:
- Avoid exercise and exertion for the first couple of days, as perspiration from exertion may increase irritation.
- Avoid direct exposure to sunlight for at least several weeks after the treatment. If you are going in the sun, then take proper measures to avoid sunlight.
- Do not pick at the skin in the treated areas.
- Use ice on the treated area to reduce some of the side effects.
